Can I put a square shower plate on a round waste

Hi guys.

As it says. In the shower tray I have bought, it has a round 90mm waste hole.

Everything in my bathroom in matte black so wanted a black shower waste. But the only ones I see are square, not round. They seem to be round underneath the grate.

Will they fit properly? Or will they stick up further and be in the way?

I’m really not that glued up but want to get it sorted before Saturday as that’s when the bathroom guy arrives (install only, I am buying the products)

And can anyone suggest if I buy a square grate, what do I need to attach it to to make the shower drain?

Got a feeling a lot of the square grilles are for fitting in tiled wet rooms, I did find this round one but it is slate coloured, depends how dark the slate is I guess.

Bought it. Looks NOTHING like the photo. It is grey and patterned and cheap looking.

Have you tried ringing your plumber in case he knows a supplier?

No he doesn’t.

So will the square not fit at all?

Never tried one, but logic says it will stand proud of the base.
