Hi, we have an acrylic shower tray, which is fixed onto a ply bottom.

I have literally just noticed a small crack in it, which I have never noticed before, as shown in the below pic.
It's about 0.5cm seems like it goes a tiny bit inwards, so I'm thinking something may have dropped on it?

There has been no leaking as such underneath, well nothing coming through the ceiling anyway, so not sure if any or a small amount is getting through, perhaps its still sealed.

Either way, is there anything I can put on that cracked area that would seal it?

Thanks

So after giving it a proper clean out, it actually looks white throughout with no actual crack as such, it's like it's just dented in a bit.

Would i be best just actually leaving it, if its not causing any issue, or do you think i'd still be best applying something to fill it in a bit, so it doesn't get any worse?

I think you've probably guessed it - something has been dropped onto the tray and 'stretched' the top coating. As it's acrylic the core is usually a little softer so it's indented. As long as it's not pierced then I'd leave it as is. There isn't really anything that could be used that would fill it and adhere to it long term given its would be getting wet all the time, without actually performing a proper repair.

A proper repair would be the same as repairing a car, sand area down, use a polyester filler, then a hardwearing paint. Hard to get an invisible repair.

Thanks for the replies, after giving it a clean it looks like the pic below. although when looking in person it looks mostly all white where you can see the darker bits.

It looks like something pretty specific has dropped, not to sure what it is though.

How think are these acrylic trays usually? i remember when we got the delivery for the whole unit, the tray was really light, there was like a whole foamy like thick part on the bottom but its hard to know how thick the acrylic is. if its very thin it could be an issue. Hard to know.

If it is an issue, i feel like the whole shower would probably have to come out, which was a pretty big job.

Even though it looks big on the pic, its taken very close up, it's only about 0.5cm and i don't even know how long it's been there, i only noticed because i was putting a little more sealant around, when looking from standing in the shower you can't actually see it by eye at all.

The sharp corner of something relatively heavy has been dropped on it. If it isn't leaking (can you see under the tray?) and it's not bothering you, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Madrab - I have just taken another pic, the others where in shade, which i think makes it look worse, this one is with the normal light on it.

Its hard to know if that black dot is just a bit of dirt that hasn't cleaned off or not.

I can't get under no, its a walk in type and was glued down to a ply board, so if it was an issue would prob be a pain to sort, prob have to take the whole unit out to replace.

There doesn't appear to be any leaking though, certainly no signs of any.

Would it be worth putting a drop of anything in to harden you think or just leave?

If it's not causing any issue then I'd leave it, nothing will just stick to it without sanding prep etc and that can make the spot look worse. Another trick is the tiniest spot of tippex, just to cover the difference in colour

Cheers, well from looking at standing height you can't even notice it, you have to be eye level really, will just leave it be. Thanks for your help.
