can i use a vaccum pump to clear an air lock ?

hi' having problems clearing an air lock.. my friend has a hand vaccum pump..is it ok to connect it to a drain valve and pull the water through?. hopefully clearing the air lock

Yes, but I suspect you will possibly still won't clear it. Do you know where the airlock is? If you do, put a vent in so you can bleed the air.
 
it appears to be in the boiler..there is a drain just below it but nothing comes out .i've looked up the valve andyou can see it working.
i drained a rad and then had nothing but probs..i've got water in my rads but not the boiler does this make sense ?
gas ..indirect ..2 valves..ideal w2000
