hallo,

about to concrete garage floor. can i use left-over felt and old undamaged kitchen lino as substitutes for dpc membrane? - see pics of album garage floor

spent a fortune on this already, need to use material already to hand. my thinking is that it is a free-standing garage, meant to keep my beloved old girl dry, store bike, tools, ladder, firewood, etc, so no need for expensive materials.

the ground is well prepared and stable - i intend to cover it with dpc material, topped with screed and pour the concrete on top of that.

any thoughts appreciated.

cheers

If your garage is detached and under 30m2 etc, it won't be subject to building control so you could use whatever you want as a dpm.
Whether lino etc wil do is another matter - it will depend on your ground conditions.
If you have spent ££££ already and only at ground level, how are you going to finish it properly?

thank you tony1851,

will use the roofing felt and the kitchen lino

ground is sand so drains easily. am not at ground level, walls, roof and door already in place, rest up to me to concrete floor and render the walls. it doesnt need great finishing, its only a garage to keep old girl dry and store some other stuff.

thanks again
