Over past couple of weeks hairline cracks have started to appear majority are upstairs and some downstairs.

The cracks are thin and are spreading across different walls. They nearly all start from the top of the walls at the ceiling point, can someone please please give me some advice if I should be worried?

Is the plaster relatively new?

Looks like the change in temp has caused it to crack

Anything noticeable on the external walls, such as cracks in the mortar?

Thanks for the replies, the plaster is around 10 years old, there is nothing on the outside walls, most are upstairs beginning at the top of the walls, really worried to see some many cracks appear in a few weeks across lots of walls.

None expert opinion.....

They are very narrow, the outdoor temperatures have changed recently, heating has gone on so likely they are nothing more than thermal expansion contraction cracks. You suggest you have only just spotted them, but who really makes a regular point of looking around their home for cracks - they could have been there a long time and gone unnoticed.

Me - I would be inclined to keep an eye on them to see if they get any worse. I would also check the outside for cracks in the mortar.

Hi Harry, you are right some could have previously been just never noticed, but there are quite alot that have definitely appeared very recently, I will have a good look around the outside for any mortar cracks.

Hi Woody, No heating hasn't been turned up.

They are more akin to thermal (shrinkage) cracks from seasonal changes to inside or outside air temperature and humidity, than to movement cracks from the structure.

Thank you for the replies, nope neighbours haven't had any work done. Seeing so many appear I feared it could be something structural, hopefully it is just shrinkage.

Sometimes when you see a crack in a wall, it can be alarming, then you start looking and find more, yet they were all there all along and you just hadn't noticed.

I think you're completely right freddie, just thought the worse and yes I wholeheartedly agree cats do rule.
