looks more like a combo valve used for an unvented cylider without balanced cold feed.

oh forgot. yes it will need maintaining.if youve an unvented cylinder.

Thanks, how do i know if i have an unvented cylinder? I have a gloworm ultimate 40ff boiler. and there is a large white tank in the airing cupboard - i think the installer said that it stores hot water?

sounds like an unvented.basically youll have mains pressure hot water.and if you do its recommended these be serviced anually by someone compotent.but in reality its only till poor flow or other probs.is when most people are only bothered to get these looked at.
