I'll be straight with you I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing and will gladly accept ridicule in return for someone being kind enough to explain to me how I use my boiler. I have recently bought a house with a Baxi WM 532 RS. Looks older than my Dad. We are trying to get the heating on, we have a siemens rdj10 thermostat in our living room so cranked that up to no affect. I think it was there for show to lure us in to buying this ice chamber and it isn't actually connected to anything. Could be wrong.

I got up this morning and tried to play with the boiler to make things warm. The dial was set to about 3 and thepilot light waa on. I turned that up to high, flicked a red switch on a little box on a cable to the right that was separate to the boiler. One side of the switch has an on/off mark and I do not know what this switch does, nor which side is supposes to be pushed down for it to be 'on'. Shocking, I know. Alsomon the right is a gray dial that you can push in or turn to the right a bit. It pops back out when you push it in. When I turned it to the right the pilot light went off immediately. I have now tried pushing the long clicker button on the left to get the pilot light back on but nothing is happening and I can't get it back on. I have downloaded the manual but it's written for some kind of boiler genius/electrician and plumbing God and I don't stand a chance.

I know I sound like a 5 year old and I still couldn't tell you why I decided that fiddling with the boiler was the best idea. Could someone please take pity on me and explain 1. How to make the pilot light come back, I miss it. And 2. How to make my house warm.

Thankyou very much in advance.

Push the grey dial thingy in and hold it there and the use the clicker to light the pilot. Keep holding the grey dial thingy for count of 20 and the release it. Pilot should stay on.

Take picture of any timer or things you fiddled with and post. Or talk to neighbours who might have same setup.

Thanks very much! I'm off to work now but I'll have another go when I get home. Very much appreciated :)

As you have just moved into the property, have the boiler serviced by a qualified engineer, they should be able to explain all you will want to know, and fix the problem with the Thermostat.

Do you have the records of when it was last serviced, this should have been sorted out by the Solicitor when buying the property.?
Mucking around with it could be dangerous,
