Can washing machine on/off switch cause RCD to trip?

Thanks Wayne. Do you mean a loose wire in the machine?
Or a loose wire at the fused spur at kitchen counter level?
Socket into which the machine is plugged below the fused spur (and immediately behind the back of the machine) has been checked by electrician and no issues.
A socket on a fused spur? Why. The WM plug has a fuse. Not that this would be the cause of the problem.

I thought it was for 15 page discussions on the interpretation of the regs?
Only after an OP's questions have been addressed as best we can.

Having said that, if we are to have regulations, and if they are sometimes in no way as clear as they should be, there is unfortunately sometimes a need for such discussion - and it's probably generally the case that the more pages it occupies, the less clear is/was the regulation(s) being discussed If the regs were totally clear, unambiguous and reasonably 'exhaustive', there would be no need for any such discussions.

Kind Regards, John
