I'm not a big fan of that blue-tinged stuff though. ;)

Don't listen to those rude folk!

I reckon it's gotta be one in a million, but I don't know the odds on your glass breaking like that....

How rude! Each to their own. Now apologise Edward!

All right I'm sorry everyone's entitled to horrendous fashion mistakes in their youth.

Ignoring the grout.........

The glass could have been cut using the string and tap method. It cuts bottles and coconuts with ease.

Wrap a sting round where the cut is required and tighten by twisting with a stick ( as in a tourniquet ) and then place with the string touching a hard surface. Give the string a sharp tap with a hammer on the opposite side to the hard surface and odds are the bottle or coconut will be cut cleanly where the string is touching it.

Worked on ceramic thermo couple holders that had been made too long.

And is the principle used for cutting ceramic / earthenware sewer pipes.

Bernard, nobody ATTEMPTED to break the glass! It was found like this in the cupboard!

Softus the grout was out of a pot ready mixed from Block & Quale. My dad applied it. About 10 years ago now.

It is yellow because in places yellow feature tiles have been used. Its an extension of these. IMO its pretty effective.

well one thing it could be is a diamond ring being worn whilst washing up is done - mates mum managed to get a new bracelet made of the top of a pint glass this way...

easy peasy

If you dip your clean finger in the wine and run it lightly round and round the top of the wine glass, you can make the glass "sing"

Do it often enough and eventually the top will break off like that.
