Just moved into a new house and there are quite a few white plastic radiator valve covers (the ones that allow you to turn then on and off) missing.

I'm doing a ton of painting etc and the missing valves look untidy.

Can you buy just the covers?

I've been trying to look for them, but I don't really know what they'd be called...lockshield covers?

They are a generic brand; nothing fancy/no built-in thermostat or anything!!

Thanks!

The ones that allow you to turn the rad on and off are wheelhead valves the others are lockshields.

Official answer is to replace them all with new TRVs and Lockshields with just one Wheelhead valve in the room with a room stat in it.

But if you are poor or just plain tight then read on
When us plumbers buy rad valves we often get one of each and just fit the one we need. Usually the lockshield.
I throw loads of wheelheads away and sometimes bootsale them. Chances are if you asked a plumber he would probably give you some or sell them cheaply. There are many different types though, from different manufacturers so getting the right ones can sometimes be a bit of a task.
