Fridge freezer stopped working a couple of days ago, light is on but not cold anywhere, unit is about 7 yrs old, what is the most common fault to check for first.

No model number so we can't identify what your machine has.
If it has a thermostat, that'll most likely be the problem.
If it's electronically controlled then I'd guess at the pcb.
