I am trying to remove the top of the cistern so I can make an adjustment to the inlet valve as it is dripping constantly only the top does not seem to come off. I have tried unscrewing the buttons but no luck - any ideas how to disconnect this?

push smaller button down and then theres a little indent you get you finder nail in ,can then pull up and out the larger button. pull out smaller button to reveal a screw holding it all together.

pop the silver buttons off, should be a screw underneath

Done, thanks.
Seems like while it's filling it up, it is also leaking into the bowl. Is that an oring problem from the seal inside the cistern or the doughnut connecting the cistern to the bowl?

The washer on the bottom of the syphon will need cleaning/replacing.
Turn off supply to toilet, remove syphon and bring to a plumbers merchant. Forget the diy stores.

Without highjacking this thread, I have a similar problem with the flush valve on my Ideal Standard, the eco flush wont work but the main flush does. (Geberit Impuls 260 (Twinco 1)) I think.

Reading previous threads it looks like the assembly needs replacing, can the flush valve simply be unscrewed, or do I have to release the cistern from the pan and lift away from the wall to access the securing nut?

If that is right, would you recommend replacing the dougnut and connection washer.

Many thanks in advance.

Could it be the flush valve also?
Not sure what I've done but earlier, in trying to get the lid off, I twisted some part of the actual syphon, so now, the cistern tries to fill up but can't quickly enough and continues to leak into the bowl.
