Can't solve this damp

Hi guys,

Thanks for your help and input. We've had the rain for the last couple of hours so I've been up into the loft to look and can't see anything :(

Here are some photos of what I saw just to give you an idea of what I'm dealing with.

Is there someone in east sussex who can help me locally then?

But did it rain enough for the water to come into the room?

What is that boxed in thing. Is it some sort of gutter?

If those images are taken immediately above the room with the damp all the way along the ceiling, then it would seem highly likely that water must be running down the wall in the loft

But you really need this looking at on site as a few images are never going to show everything in context

It rained a fair amount so I would have expected it to be enough to come in.

I really dint get it, the only problems I can see in the loft are the gable end inside the loft is a but crumbly and the crumbled brick dust has fallen in between the first joist in the roof and the wall.

Other than that I can see anything else.

Thanks

Yeah would imagine that the water would be running down the inside wall but it there was no evidence of it that I could see.

I didn't think the photos would reveal the answer I just thought it might show what I'm working with and see if there are any suggestions.

Thanks guys

p.s. when you say boxed in thing - which photo do you mean? There isnt anything boxed in it might just be timbers in the roof you're talking about, the photos aren't great with them being taken in the dark up there. Sorry.

I think he is talking about the first photo with the white cable running across it how big is that beam Im guessing 9"x9" never seen anything like that in a property like yours.

Oh I THINK it's just the angle/prospective of the photo.

I'll go up and have a measure just to check but the beams I think are just normal. The white cable is the tv aerial.

The battens on the right of photo are doubled up as these were the added when the roof on the front was redone 6wks ago.

Thanks

Spent an hour with Nige trying to spot the problem today but we couldn't find anything untoward. Thanks for your time and help Nige.... top bloke!

Somehow the damp/water us getting in but the lift look fine and the outside walls are sound and recently painted with a quality masonry paint.

I know this sounds crazy but I guess the only way to solve it is it dry line over the top and ignore it?!

Any ideas?

Cheers
