Cap Chimney

J

hi folks. Just a quick question. This fire is getting removed (literally just removed hearth, oh the dust) and I am putting a tv and electric fireplace in its place. Obviously I will need to get a plasterer out to cover the hole but my question is will I need to get the chimney capped in order to prevent rain etc coming down and causing problems? If I do get it capped will I also need a vent? Ideally I don't want a vent as i think it will look a bit silly.

Thanks,

Joe.

I think the picture is just a bit deceptive looks like an internal breast, but still best to vent it, a bit more work but you could put it in the side if you are worried about the look.
Shame on you for removing that, but each to their own.
Where are you based, I am currently in the market for something just like that.

if you can dig out the hearth and put a tube in you can use under floor air to vent the chimney assuming you have a wooden suspended floor under the laminate;) Just like I did @ home.
