I have a Renault Clio Bebop 1994 which suddenly began overheating, the electric fan was not switching on.I bypassed the thermocontact and had the fan running permanently as soon as I started the engine, but it continues to overheat.I am now sure the problem is the thermostat which I intend to replace, however I am unable to find a tap to purge the cooling system. On the top right hand side of the radiator there is something which resembles a tap, which opens and closes something inside the radiator;there is no external opening. It turns 90 degrees from a vertical to a horizontal position, and I am unsure what it's purpose is or which position it should be in.Does anyone have any advice???

Visit your local library and look at a haynes manual.
If all else fails drain the system by removing the bottom hose from the radiator.

if it's on the top of the radiator it will be to bleed the air out of the system.
Open it with the engine running and water should come out of it when all the air is out of the system
