We have a Fire Angel CO2 detector that went off when we're cooking dinner this evening "Gas Hob" - The boiler is in the loft that was serviced 9 months ago.

Anyway took the CO2 detector outside, let it reset and put it back in the kitchen 10 minutes, shortly after it went off again.

Not one for taking risks, I turned the gas off at the main and rang SGN who did a drop test which showed no leaks. But because the engineer could not
test further the meter had a disc put in it, which is fine, plumber coming tomorrow morning to check boiler and flue and hob.

Can you recommend a CO2 detector please? I can't be sure if the detector is faulty or not, the second time l left it outside as it was terrifying our dog, it's still flashing evacuate, but no high pitched sounds anymore...

The tightness test checks for any leaks on the pipework.

What other gas appliances were being used when the alarm went off? What color is the flame on the gas hob?

Carbon monoxide is a silent killer and the cause of it is incomplete combustion.

Flames on the hob were blue.

Combi boiler in the loft.

How close was the CO detector (not CO2 - Carbon Di-oxide - Di meaning 2) to the hob?

hobs will set them off very easily by the very nature of how they work you stick a pan on them that impinges the flames and produces CO .
Very few do but you are meant to have a window open whilst using a gas cooker which is why the regs ask for an openable window in the room

Above the hob is an extractor on 6 inch duct straight through the wall behind.

But, noted, we'll open the window aswell, thank you.

Gas safe plumber came out this morning and tested for carbon monoxide tested the hob and then tested the boiler in the loft additionally carried out a tightness test.

The carbon monoxide level in the kitchen with all four burners and no ventilation was 80, he went onto say at 200 it would be an issue.

He's left behind a Honeywell Carbon Tester and I'll nip into plumbers merchants later and get another for the loft.

Otherwise all is tickety boo.

The correct procedure is to test with everything on (unless you only have gas hob burners) with x2 pans of a certain diameter 165 - 200 iirc, filled with approx 1 litre of water in each and bring to the boil and then simmer. However that could be done if it goes off again.

Flame on a gas hob are normally blue.
Yes, you are completely correct. I went to light the hob again and, yes, of course it is blue. My mistake was due to the fact that the wife does all the cooking.
