Keen to find out how a carpet fitter would fix a carpet to a ceramic tiled floor?

For example, does he/she have to glue down the tack strips then come back later, or is another method used?

Also, I understand from this post (//www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=675985#675985) that the skirting board should be level with the floor. Is this still the same for this scenario, and is it advised to have the skirting board in place before the carpet fitter turns up?

Thanks in advance,

Tony

best method is what we call a 'twin stick'. The underlay is free floating ( depending on the correct brand being installed) and then basically the carpet is then fully bonded to the underlay. There is another method where you apply a tackifier glue to the tiles and then the underlay sticks to this and the the carpet is fully bonded to the underlay again. ( also the correct underlay needs to be used) Also for both these methods you dont use gripper!
As for gluing or even pinning the gripper into the gout line, this is really not good practise. There are a few reasons for this but the one main reason is that with the two other ways i suggested, you dont damage the ceramics.
