carpet underlay

don't know if this is the right forum but here goes.
Is there anyone out there that has expert knowledge on buying the correct underlay for carpets.
I just want to go out and buy a good quality, long lasting underlay that can be used for every room in the house......not the present rubbish that I have which creates flattened piles in the hallway and any where else that is frequently used.
I'm sick of being sold poor quality stuff that the salesman says is wonderful and hardwearing.

Cloud 9 Cumulus is the best underlay on the market by a mile in my opinion. It seems to win the Best Underlay Award every year and most fitters I know have it installed in their own homes, which tells its own story I think.
