easy enough to do? or should i go for one of those "free fitting" deals..?
do they include stairs or if it just for normal rooms?

Quite tricky and time consuming ,there not usually incuded in free fitting offers because of time. But times are hard for all retailers and asking for free fitting could be the difference between them getting your money and someone else.
If you dont ask you dont get

it's not going to be worth it for them I recon..
it's only 3ft wide and I think that one length would do it ( accross the 4M roll.. ) so would only be 4m²

it doesnt work like that, the pile of the carpet will be running the wrong direction. if it is just one straight stair run, with no landing or hall and with 12 stairs then you will require 1.5 x 4m width. you then cut down the length of the carpet to create 4 pieces of carpet all at (width of stair + 2mm) x 1.5m. lol get the proffessionals in mate. Its always worth them doing it, I'd fit 12 straight stairs for a minimum charge any day

what difference does it make if the pile runs the wrong way?

and it's only 6 steps, the other 6 are outside..

the carpet will wear alot faster with the pile going the wrong way.

You say half the stairs are outside? Are the stairs indoor concrete or wood?

Also where in the wm are you ? I might have someone near you that will do you a good deal.

yes inside are concrete..
how good a deal...
I'll PM you the exact location, but it's in stourbridge..
do you do kitchens too? ( can't decide yet laminate or tile.. )

10m² ( 2850 x 3040, plus a bit into the door of 1040 x 460 )

It's allright, the cookers not connected yet ;) ( actually the room would be empty.. )

long story short, there are "gaps" to bridge...

this one will be filled with a brick or two and some mortar.

this one however has the water supply to the flat in it..
those 2 used to be the walls for what I presume was a pantry or something.

I can't fill the second one with anything that will bear weight for a vinyl tile or floor, and the wheel of the fridge will be over it.
I will fill it with dry sand to give some support to the laminate or tile I put over it, but it needs to be a rigid floor

there is a 3rd hole, similar to the first where a small wall stub has been removed, and this too will be filled with a brick and mortar..
