Cast Iron Cistern

MY husband has restored a cast iron cistern for our cloakroom. It looks lovely. BUT - we have no heating in there - I can hear you all saying they will have 'condensation' drips!!!

So OK - we have 'drips' - but we really like the look of it because the name on it is local to our area. I just wondered if there is any way, before he takes it down, to 'lag' the inside? Might be a silly question, I know, but it doesn't warrant it's own heating system and I don't want to see it go.

Fingers crossed one of you out there has some thoughts worth trying.

how about a self regulating aquarium heater - low voltage ideally

My husband mentioned something about that today and I thought he was joking! I thought next minute he is going to say he needs a whole cut in cistern for me to see the fish. Now you have said it then perhaps I should google it. Thank you

Just a thought - do you think it would be possible to line it with a spray? foam or something?

I have heard of people lining cisterns with yoga/camping type foam mat to help with condensation but can't say if it worked or not.

So.... I am not the only one who have thought of it trying to line it with something. Nothing lost - so will put the idea to OH.

Maybe I imagined an aerosal filled with a foam that you squirted around the sides. I think my idea came form seeing a stand showing how they squirt this expanding foam into loft spaces etc for insulation.
