Hi Guy's,

I have a cast iron gate which I would like to fit onto the side of the house.

I would be drilling into a breeze block cavity wall and was wondering what would be the best type of screw fitting to fix the heavy duty brackets securely as the gate is quite heavy. So I need a screw this copes with a lot of downwards pressure. I can't concrete a post in as it will narrow the side path too much and won't be able to get a wheelbarrow down it.

So my question is:

Do I use a expandable metal anchor screw or screwbolt?

Do I get a shorter length screw than standard breeze block depth?

Also will it benefit me if I add a small wooden batten rather than applying the brackets straight to the wall?

Cheers
