I want to drill a 22mm hole in a cast iron soil pipe, ordinary drills won't touch it, any suggestions please as I don't want to replace the whole downpipe. What tools will I need?

You could try a blacksmith drill, Axminster

Do some at 22mm, a pilot hole made with a cobalt bit may well be advisable.

you can angle grind a section out, graft in a piece of plastic using fernco couplers and then use a boss fitting.

i prefer to replace the whole stack with plastic, but it's your choice.
