Hi
I have a cast iron soil pipe, I want to replace the top with plastic as I want to connect another wc. The CI joint seems to be jointed with lead, can anyone suggest how to separate this lead joint?

If a proper plumber caulked it with tarred twine and lead I wouldn't fancy your chances of getting it out in one piece.

you hit it with a lump hammer. you avoid getting bits of broken C.I. inside the stack. then you adapt from C.I. to plastic and Robert is your maternal/paternal forebear's male sibling.

I took mine apart recently. Someone on here told me to drill the lead out with a 6mm drill bit and it worked.

Thanks for your reply I"ll have a go might be a bit tricky at wall side

It was a bit of a faff and it will ruin your drill bit, but I got it done.
