cavity insulation

I intend to brick up a doorway which will have a cavity of 75 mm.Can I use polystyrene to insulate the cavity and what thickness should I use .

no dont use polystyrene for a full fill cavity - it will transmit moisture across the cavity and give you a damp problem

you can use mineral wool/fibreglass batts the same thickness as your cavity (rockwool. isowool, knauf etc)
