I have now wired up my home network and placed cat 6 cables in rough areas where I wish to place some CCTV cameras. I am still drawn towards the eaves of the house as this would be so much easier to do compared to the other locations! I have a room above my garage which really needs some CCTV - the bottom of the eaves here are lower than the rest of the height at 3.8 metres.

The rest of the house has eaves with a height of 4.6 metres - I obviously want the best performance from the setup and was double checking before I drill holes into a wall as opposed to the eaves (which I can access easily from the loft!).

I am running a UBIQUITI network with a dream machine pro which can be used as a NVR and POE.

might be looking at tops of peoples heads depending on cameras used and fields of view vertically. The more the camera tilts down, the more likely it is you get a head shot rather than face shot.

not familiar with the dream machine, had a quick look and didn't see any poe ports or storage mentioned to be honest.

Ok yes it may be a problem then even with the lower eaves on that room. I guess the next problem is the lower down you have them you then have the issue with someone tampering with them. Is it better to get a dome or bullet camera?

I have a switch connected to the dream machine which has POE ports and you can add a hard drive to the dream machine to store the data. Ubiquiti make their own cameras which integrate with my home network.
