Cecil Rhodes didn't rape children.
He didn't commit mass murder
He did steal land from black Africans and made it all but impossible for them to vote. He also had a disdain for blacks (along with the majority of the white world)
Shall we strike Australia off the map for forcing aberoginals from the land
He didn't just steal land from Africans, it wasn't just about land or money, he invaded and conquered that land in bloody wars.
Do you think they just handed the land to him at some peaceful ceremony?
His scholarship was designed to increase male white oppression over Africa, and to regain control over USA.
As per Rhodes’ will, the goal of the scholarships was to promote leadership among “young colonists with the moral force of character and instincts to lead for the furtherance of the British Empire.”
Only men were allowed to apply.
“For the bringing of the whole uncivilised world under British rule, for the recovery of the United States, for the making the Anglo-Saxon race but one Empire”

He was a devout racist who considered British to be superior species.
That fact alone should exclude his statue from any place of honour. To not do so is to trivialise his racist attitude, nature, behaviour and deeds.
He wasn't just a white person who went along with the general racist attitude, he was a very active proponent of its legacy,
His legacy is not just his philanthropy, philanthropy only made possible by the cruel treatment of millions of Africans.
After growing up in a Zimbabwe convulsed by the legacy of colonialism, when I got to Oxford I realised how many British people still failed to see how empire had shaped lives like mine – as well as their own.
Rhodes’s colonising forces dispossessed millions of Africans of their land and created an apartheid state that endured for 90 years.
These were perfect lessons for a world in which one race thought itself worthy of violently subjugating another. After independence, Saints’s ways were embraced by a Black middle class that had imbibed colonial culture and internalised that culture’s sense of superiority.
Black people were denied the franchise, their movements were controlled by a punitive internal passport system, and they died at heinous rates from chronic malnutrition, high infant mortality and limited access to basic health services. Meanwhile, white people in Rhodesia enjoyed the highest per capita number of private swimming pools anywhere in the world.
...colonialism had furnished not only Zimbabwe but Britain, too, with fiercely held national mythologies. In both countries, colonialism had left behind ideas and institutions that stood in the way of a more honest reckoning with the past.

If Jimmy Saville had not been proven to be a paedophile, but had espoused paedophile attitudes, beliefs and behaviour, he would still have been vilified, as would any other person who espoused belief or support in such despicable behaviour.
Just look at the many posts in this forum espousing hatred for paedophiles. Some are perhaps just hooks on which to hang their racist intent. But paedophilia is vilified, while racism is tolerated or ignored. Oxford Uni even ignores it in the interest of philanthropy, but by modern standards, Rhodes' actions would be considered war crimes, on a par with Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao, etc.
