Hi I’m looking for advice on the ceiling cracks I have in the 1970s house I have just moved into. They run straight across the ceilings in most of my rooms but don’t continue down the walls. From looking at them it appears that they have been previously plastered over but have reoccurred. Thank you for any advice.

Nothing to be concerned about, they are just cracks where plasterboard panels are joined and due to changing loads on joists. If you want, you can scrap a V in the gap, and fill with a flexible filler, smooth, then just paint over - when you plan to do the entire ceiling redecoration.
