Ceiling Fan

Do these generally come with 2 screw fixings or more?
I would prefer 4, with at least 2 of them secured to a joist, what is the norm?

Somebody wants me to take light down and fit a fan, but as usual with lights, they are barely hanging onto the plaster on its lasties. hope i dont have to move everything over to another side of ceiling.

You may well end up firtting a wooden block in the ceiling for it to hang on to - the forces are rather more than a ceiling rose, and if it falls out the effect is spectacular. Many are indeed only 2 screws, but they will need something solid to chew on.
