Hello, I have moved into a house with old wiring and want to replace a ceiling rose with a loop with a new light fitting.

There are 3 cables entering the ceiling rose each with 2 cables ( black and red )

I believe I connect the outer wires to the live and neutral on the new fitting but not sure what to do with the loop wires.

can you Help please……

Pics below of existing ceiling rose wired and new fitting

Also, all 3 red wires go into the loop on the existing rose

Unless my eyes are deceiving me you don’t appear to have any earths on your set up at the light and your new fitting needs one

You don't have to wire in twin & earth, if it's going to be a faff. A separate insulated PC (earth cable) could run to ceiling roses just as they did in olden times. The central earth conductor in relative terms is a modern addition to cables. I often worked on uninsulated and separate earth cables while training under my very strict uncle a lifetime ago.
