Would a concealed cable running in the ceiling (<50mm deep) within 150mm of the angle formed by the ceiling and the wall, be in a 'safe zone'?

The only thing you need to make sure is that you drill the ceiling joists at least 50mm from the top or bottom of the joists. There are no safe zones as such within a ceiling.
