hi, can a router be used to cut the holes in fibre ceiling tiles for the lights? instead of a hole saw, and if so can i use a standard router cutter (used on wood) or a special one for fibre? quick reply would be appreciated thanks
Do you mean in - situ - ie with the router upside down against the ceiling. No surely not. Though I guess it would be possible.
You would need to make a template to give you the right sized hole.
Why not the hole saw?
As a basic alternative, a pair of compasses and a keyhole saw, or drilling lots of little holes. The cut edge of the hole will presumably be hidden by the fixing.
Hope this isn't too late (visions of accidentally inflicted frontal lobotomy come to mind).
no not in situ, and cant use hole saw because i havent got one. Becaulse its only a one off job i wasnt going to buy one, but i do have a router. I didnt think of drilling loads of holes but that could take a while. thanks
