Hi,

Just about to lay the DPC on top of two courses of celcon and then the sole plate on top of it & I have two questions:

1. Does the DPC usually get bedded into a layer of mortar to take up any variation in the blocks?
2. Are masonry nails on 600 centres through the sole plate, DPC and into the blocks ok to keep the whole thing nicely secure?

That's it - thanks in advance!

The DPC is normally bedded on mortar. I do not think masonry nails through the sole plate into Celcon blocks will work. If the wood is not sitting down 100% then the vibration of knocking in another nail will loosen the first. I would use something like Fischer frame fixings, or metal straps on the surface.
