I am going to be upgrading my cellar over the next few months. I am going to start with the floor. Presently it is made up of bricks, probably laid on ash. The house is victorian so the bricks have been there for 100 or so years. They are very, very firm and do not move, there is also a sound area of quarry tiles.
My dilemma is this..
As the floor is very sound is there any merit in taking up the bricks in order to lay a dpm, insulation and slab? As the base is very sound I am inclined to just screed over with a 50mm reinforced screed with a dpm and insulation underneath. I can sacrifice a bit of headroom.
Does this sound sensible?
Thanks
