I'm in the process of buying a new conservatory. The frame and glass on the existing one are falling to pieces. I've had two companies round so far. One suggested Pilkington Activ glass and the other suggested K2 Celsius elite.
The thing is, it's going to be a child's play room so needs to be thermally efficient, bounce off a lot of sun(south west facing garden) and maintain sensible summer temperatures. It's not a huge conservatory, 3.2x3.7 metres. At the moment it's draughty and cold in autumn winter and so hot it's unusable in summer!
The chap who suggested Pilkington suggests the Celsius elite was very easy to damage as the coating is a bit of an afterthought, while the chap selling Celsius suggest Pilkington is much less effective at insulating and reflecting away heat.
What's the real truth. Which glass type is the better bet?
