Had a look at a leasehold flat today in a regency limestone townhouse.

Some of the most recent pointing out the back looks to be grey in colour.

So this is likely to be cement?

But it should be lime, right?

What implicaitions does this have for the building; if untreated will it cause serious deffects in years to come?

How concerned should I be? I like the flat but if its going to cost ££s then perhaps I should pass.

Leasehold+Regency(or any period property)=  How much P.A is the maintenance ££££££££

It does look like cement mortar. This is quite common although not technically correct. It depends partly on the freeze/thaw cycle that the wall goes through as to the damage caused. Some stone and brickwork lasts for many years with the wrong pointing.

Agree, and so far that fee isn`t extortionate...unlike seaside towns in Sussex  . I think I would be inclined to go for the flat ;)
