Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help me with a central heating issue I have.

I was looking to bleed my radiators as I noticed that the radiators upstairs in the house were pretty cold. Before bleeding the radiator I thought I'd let some water into the system using the black tap on the filling loop. Unfortunately the tap turned on but then crumbled in my hand and I couldn't turn the tap off!!

It took me about 10-15 minutes to get the tap eventually turned off. By now the pressure gauge was showing around 3.5 - 4.

I've tried to drain some water off via a radiator but this doesn't seem to have any effect on the pressure reading.

I've probably drained off about 10 litres of water and still no change.

Can someone advise whether I should keep draining water off, and how much more should I drain before the pressure reading will return back to normal??

Help, I'm a bit of a beginner to this stuff and would really value some advice.

Are you sure the water is off?

I'd keep going until the pressure goes down or you run out of water.

I guess it is possible the gauge is guffed though.

In the mean time, don't run the boiler.

And don't use the PRV.
