Central heating controller switching status by itself

A Switchmaster Sonata CH controller is switching status from HOLD or TIMED to CONT (continuous ) by itself. This would normally require a button to be manually pressed. This of course means system coming on by itself at unwanted times. Can anyone please shed light on what cause may be and possible repair.

not being familiar with that controller, if it is "electronic" it may have a jambed in button (or partilay jambed) if not get a new controller @ £27.00 you may spend more in time and money only to find out it has given up.

I know it is 9 years ago that you posted a query on this CH controller, but I am searching for a copy of the user guide, and wondered if you might be able to help.
