My header tank tends to get warm. By tracing the pipework up to the header tank I have found that the pipe that feeds the central heating system is sending warm water up to the tank. Consequently the water in the tank is getting warm and in cold weather this causes condensation to drip off the overflow pipe. What is the best course of action to put this right please?

A little warm water may be sent up to the F&E tank when the system first warms up.
However, it sounds as if yours may be pumping over! ( See FAQ ).
This is a very serious condition and can result in the system becoming sludged up in a very short time! It cam also result in therads becoming holed and needing replacement.
The solution depends on the cause but its usually as a result of a blockage or restriction by sludge.
