I have an open vented indirect system and have been plagued with air locks for years everytime I turned on my pump to heat the house, so I eventually called in a plumber because I was worried about stripping the nut from constantly letting the air out and he fitted an automatic air vent and turned my pump to max now none of my downstairs rads or the furthest one from the vent upstairs gets hot and the rest are lukewarm on two occasions the hot water slowed and stopped before the bath was full but after turning the tap off for a minute the hot started flowing again. Please advise

Different problems going on here. Your bath is filled ultimately from your cold water storage tank in your loft, via the hot water cylinder.

If flow of hot slows or stops then most likely you've got a knackered ball valve on the cold water storage tank.
