A guy from "Home Emergency" came to fix two leaking glands in my airing cupboard today. To do this he drained the heating system. Hey presto no heating now(it was OK when he arrived). The boiler starts ;the pipes in the airing cupboard where the cylinder is get roasting hot and after 5 mins or so the boiler trips out - assume overheating. But the radiators are all cold.He has gone and I must await another call. Any ideas on likely problem/solution please. By the way he wasnt a Corgi plumber so he said he couldnt open up boiler.

its probably airlocked, look for some 'thumb vents' in airing cupboard and bleed the pump.

no such animal

Actually you can register with CORGI as a pure ( non-gas ) plumber!

I wonder how many have done that just to appear to be "CORGI Registered".

I am surprised that they did not realise the problem that might be giving them. Perhaps they were just too greedy for the plumbing registration fees? They will also register that Scottish Gas fellow for £200 extra for a verbal assessment if he has no formal qualifications.

One was above the pump, the other was lower down and seems to be tee-d of the coil.

Would you believe it - the bloke who fixed the glands had a) left a gate valve closed on top of pump and b) caused air locks too.
All sorted thanks.
