I have just flicked my heating to 'on' for the first time since March 2013. The appropriate light has illuminated to show CH is on but nothing else has happened. Usually there are some clicking noises from the boiler and then it can be heard to fire up and a green light illuminates. I have a Worcester Greenstar Ri boiler but I don't think this is the problem as it was serviced in Feb 2013 and works fine (and in a similar way) for our hot water.

I have a Potterton EP2002 control panel and, again, it works well for hot water. I have checked that our room thermostat and the tank thermostat are on and set at appropriate temperatures.

Am at a loss as to what to check next. Any suggestions would be helpful please.

Many thanks for that. The valve wasn't stuck.

Have just had another go at resetting the panel. This time I held the relevant buttons down for quite some time and suddenly the boiler kicked in and we now have heat!

I don't know how old the panel is as have only been in the house a couple of years and it was here when I moved in. Is it possible that the buttons get stuck as time ticks on?
