I have just cut off the water supply to remove the sink and toilet from my ensuite. I have turned the water back on but the heating is not working.

The boiler kicks into life for about a minute, then turns itself off and the radiators are stone cold. The boiler has recently been serviced and it's obviously something to do with me disconnecting the water supply, but I just can't work out why the heating won't work. The hot water works fine.

Any ideas?

What boiler and system do you have?

Whatever boiler and type of system to have, the cold mains being turned off then on should not affect the radiators.

Ideal Elan 2. As I say, it was fine yesterday before I cut off the supply and can't work out why it won't work now.

My guess is that you have a heating/boiler fault and is purely coincidental to the work you have carried out.

Does the boiler fire for hot water? You may think you have hot water because the cylinder may have been up to temp before the fault became apparent.

Model of the Elan 2 would be helpful too. Do you have a 3 port motorised valve?

Hi, I've no idea on the model as I'm not at home. There is definitely hot water though, it's just the heating that's out.
