Last night before going to bed I could hear a tapping sound coming from somewhere near the boiler, couldn't find anything though so I just put it down to the noise that the flue sometimes makes after having the heating on.
Went down this morning to check again and a pipe with a pressure gauge (http://www.dannysomner.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/heating/100_0232.jpg), above the boiler had been dripping and water had dripped on the top of the boiler, down the side and down the front!
I thought that maybe the mains water tap (http://www.dannysomner.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/heating/100_0233.jpg), was letting water in and causing the pressure to go sky high thus making the water leak (pressure was 1.2 by this point - what it should be at cold). Whilst that tap does look slightly open, it is closed, if I turn it anymore you can hear water begin to flow - also the secondary tap is closed.
Since this morning (10am) the pressure rose up to 3.2 (warm water) (4:30pm). The tap was dripping again and this time I turned the red knob on the tap and let enough water out until the pressure went down to 2 (as it should be at warm). It's still rising and I have no idea what the problem is!
Here is an overall photo of the boiler (http://www.dannysomner.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/heating/100_0234.jpg)
I can take a photo of the insides of the boiler if anybody needs to see it.
