some of the floor tiles in my house, 4 years old and Barratt quality(!) appear to be rocking and some of the grouting is cracking.

Have I got a big problem or is it a bodge job which can be fixed by a tiler taking them up and re laying?

it sounds like they were not mounted on an even strong base. Or if they were fixed to timber (it is "normal" ) the tmber may have either been nailed down (shouldn't be done) or not enough screws to secure it.

(I saw Tommy Walsh doing it on tv the other day)

thanks.

Time to take one up then and have a gander!

Mr Walsh said something like " the board should be screwed every six inches, as if they are nailed the board will eventualy start to spring" so perhaps take up a few. :D
