Hi,

I am fitting a new bathroom to a 3rd floor flat. The floor is concrete but with 2" high wooden beams running along it which have tounge and groove floor boards fixed to them.

I'd like to tile the floor with ceramic tiles but need to be sure they will have a sound base. I had planned to remove the T&G and lay either chip board flooring or plywood and fix it to the beams below.

Would this be acceptable or am I liable to get movement?

Just going there now so I will post a pic later if I have not explained this very well.

Thanks in advance,

Alan.

Make sure the battens are screwed down well to the concrete floor then replace old boarding with 22-25mm WBP ply screwed to the battens every 200mm. Fix tiles with flexi adhesive & flexi grout.

Do not use chipboard.

regarding heights ,

I would take up the floor boards , secure joist an 18mm wbp... ;)

Thanks for your help,

My local builders merchants have quoted me £30 per sheet (2440 x 1220 x 18mm) of WBP plywood. Not sure how much extra it would cost for 22mm.

Does this seem like a reasonable price?

Alan.
