Do I need to use 12mm plywood beneath ceramic tiles. The current floor is chipboardand wondered if they could be laid directly on that

if its proper flooring grade chipboard (the tongue & groove type) you can put your tiles on to it. ian

i would put extra screws in the boards before putting the tiles down and PVA the surface
