Yes the byflow heat exchanger boiler are great little cheapies in some areas, and a pile of sh1te in others. Vokera had a problem in certain areas where the mains pressure actually rose during the hour of the night most folk get their fatal heart attacks and the witches are dancing naked round in a circle but nobody is drawing water, that it bursts through the heat exchanger.

In locations where they do work they are great because of the simplisity.

well after trying to pump fernox through it just blocked solid and i couldnt get anything through.... so i thought id have one last attempt and pumped it backwards through the system and.... WOOSHH!! it cleared!! so ran another 4 mixes of solution through to make sure and the heats back the pressures back!! and no more baths at my mates house!! thank you all so much for the help and comments... they saved me well over £300..
but if i could just ask for one more peace of advise??

to stop this hapening again i need to fit a filter or one of these electric coil things... anyone have any experience of these things?? im sceptical about the electric things as i understand the principal that the magnetic field stops the limescale forming christals etc but i dont like the idea that the lime is still there... so i think a filter/chemical treatment would be better... anyone have any advise??

Concensus seems to be that they make a small difference in some cases.

With your sort of problem, short of a watersoftener, a combi-guard type chemical dispenser with polyphosphate balls is about the only answer.

Remove the flow restrictor if you haven't done so. Lower flow = hotter water = more scale deposition.

anyone have any advise on the screwfix filters?? before i go and buy them?? am i looking at the right kind of thing??
