Is a Horstmann Centuar 27 a direct replacement for a Honeywell 27, they both look exactly the same?

Google tells me yes.... The Secure Controls (Horstmann) C27, from a seller's website:

Replaces (same backplate and wiring for easy swapover):
Honeywell C21 C27.
Newlec NLC21 NLC27.
Horstmann CentaurPlus C21

The back plate does seem reasonably universal, however even within on make the wiring can change.

I have always thought this is asking for problems, the single channel is volt free, but the twin and triple channel versions are not, and with the Drayton you can also have an OpenTherm module as well

so one has to read model by model, but a two channel should swap with another two channel.
