Hi all, first post but read alot, always very useful.
I'll try to keep this as concise as possible.
I only moved in to the house recently (it's a small 3bed terrace with one bathroom) so I've been poking around and this is what I know about my system: I have a baxi backboiler behind fireplace in dining room and a HW cylinder in the cupboard under the stairs. What looks like quite a large but new plastic cold water tank in the loft. The electric shower is fed from the mains, tee'd off from the feed to the cold water tank. The bath cold tap is fed from the cold water tank, the bathroom basin from the mains.
Here's some pics I took:

I have an electric shower which is on the blink. I'm not a great fan of electric showers and would like to replace it with something that gives a more powerful shower. Btw i believe the shower is beyond economic repair.
I'm aware that I should probably be thinking about upgrading the boiler but would be interested to hear opinions on that, but I'm not in any position to change the boiler for a while.
Also, I've had a read through the wiki and I think this is a fully pumped system? But I don't know if that makes any difference?
Thirdly I'd like to renovate the bathroom.
So should I just replace the electric shower like for like and change the shower once the boiler is sorted or is there something I can install that will be moving me forward i.e thermostatic mixer- is it likely to work without a pump? Or be any better than an electric shower?
Sorry for the long post but I'm trying to come up with a plan that is economic and reults in me having a decent shower, would really appreciate people's advice.
Ta in advance..
