lads a topic close to my heart, i am also a C.O.R.G.I. rgd. installer (for what its worth ! ). there have been three installations of gas boilers within 500yds of my house in the last six months done by unregistered installers.I have reported all three to C.O.R.G.I. & guess what ? b*****r alls happened, apparently, C.O.R.G.I. wright to the homeowners asking if they can do a free check on the installation that they believe to have been installed illegally. If the householder ignores the request, thats it, theres s** all they can do.
Ahh well i suppose weel have to wait for something to go bang & then perhaps our lax goverment might wake up & smell the coffee, keep safe lads & keep paying your C.O.R.G.I. fees, you know it makes sense yea right
i know exactly where you are coming from. The only time someones a*s* will get kicked is when it goes fately wrong. Then it is down to the HSE.

Today I went to another boiler installed by an East European. When I asked if he was CORGI he said "not exactly, but he has a friend who checkes his work and he gave me the friend's number".

Well, not exactly!

He gave me the number of the firm who his friend works for!

I spoke to the office manager and she said they did not approve of their employees working "on the side". Tomorrow I will see if she wants to do anything about it!

The illegal installer had not left the AAV open so the boiler was not lighting, that simple mistake cost him ( or the householder £80 ).

Interestingly he has used coppe tube but white plastic push fit connectors. The gas pipe is soldered though!

Again another situation where CORGI will do nothing, the employer of the CORGi will do nothing either I expect !
